Held virtually over 10 weeks and culminating in an in-person gathering in New York City with highly trained UN and JPO Staff. Whether you're a seasoned delegate or new to the Model UN world, JPO:MUN offers a unique platform to hone your skills, engage in meaningful debate, and forge lasting connections with like-minded youth from around the globe.

HOW JPO:MUN WORKS

An immersive experience designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the most pressing challenges facing our world today while learning from UN and JPO staff.

1. 20 Hours of Engaging and Interactive Online Sessions, coupled with Collaborative Group Work to craft two-page Position Papers
2. Culminating In-Person Event March 26-29, 2025 in NYC

 JPO:MUN 

 

WHAT: An extraordinary Model UN experience designed for the world's most promising youth leaders. JPO combines access to UN personnel in New York City with the guidance of our top-tier JPO facilitators. Participants gain exceptional insights into international diplomacy and global leadership across eight crucial UN Committees.

WHO: Exceptional youth worldwide, ages 11-18.

WHEN/WHERE: 

  • Virtual Sessions: 
    • January-March: 6 Saturdays (10 AM-12 PM CST)
    • Total: 20 hours of virtual content (includes 8 additional hours)
    • Content is a mix of interactive in-person and asynchronous
    • Optional virtual sessions for global time zones and busy schedules
  • Culminating In-Person Event: 
    • March 26-29, 2025, New York City.
    • Formal Dress Code
    • Use official language of the conference 
    • Extras like a visit to the New York Stock Exchange  

COST: $2900 per student – This all-inclusive fee covers both virtual and in-person experiences, accommodations in NYC, and unforgettable opportunities like a visit to the New York Stock Exchange.

TROY G. WOLFE 

From the UNA-USA  & UN FOUNDATION

Troy Wolfe is the Senior Director, Partnerships & Special Initiatives at the United Nations Foundation. Mr. Wolfe brings to the position more than 20 years of experience in education and diplomatic service involving bilateral, regional, and global issues. He has participated in negotiations regarding the major United Nations Civil Society Conference and national and international efforts to localize the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, he has worked in the humanitarian fields and served in the United States Peace Corps and Operation Crossroads Africa.

His service to UNF began in 2011 and includes the oversight of grants, Model UN programming, partnerships, special programs, and philanthropic initiatives that leverage the vast resources of the United Nations Foundation.

Mr. Wolfe works closely with UN Agencies, and local governments, and supports more than 200 chapters of United Nations Associations of the United States of America (UNA-USA) with implementing quality programs that inform the public on Agenda 2030. Under his leadership, and in collaboration with the Better World Campaign, he has also planned and executed bi-partisan Congressional Learning Trips for members of the House and Senate.

Troy leads UNA-USA efforts on strategic partnerships, the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion Task Force, and the UNA-USA Fellowship Initiative, and serves an advisory role to the United Nations Association’s UN Alum Affinity Group. 

He was recently appointed to the United Nations U.S. Council of Organizations Executive Committee where he collaborates with a federation of civil society, non-governmental, and governmental organizations to focus on American Leadership in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

GEORGE GARLAND 

President of

UNA-USA  SNY  

Dr. Garland is President of the UNA-USA Southern New York State Division. In addition, he is an independent consultant with experience as Executive Director of the World Energy Forum, Executive Director for National Membership at UNA-USA and previously Executive Director of the UNA National Capital Area.  He has served as Executive Director of UNA-USA’s Members Day at the United Nations in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and as moderator of the 2011 panel on energy and climate change. 

Dr. Garland’s 34 year career with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency included development and implementation of financial responsibility regulations for hazardous waste management. From 1988 to 1992, he worked with India, Indonesia, Burma, Sri Lanka, and Thailand as Chief Technical Advisor for Toxic Chemicals and Pollutants in WHO’s Regional Office for South East Asia.

His international work also includes assignments in South Korea, and Oman. He worked with the World Bank in the Russian Federation to establish a national hazardous waste management system and with USAID in Russia to improve the water supply system of Nizhni Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast. He has several articles in Biocycle magazine on organics management (compost).

Dr. Garland has a degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, Masters Degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon and in Public Health from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from George Washington University.
